Fresh Meal Delivery Diet Plan

Summary:
One of the reasons people always put off dieting is because who can spend half of their day planning and preparing their meals? eDiets is offering a new plan where they prepare the food for you called eDiets Fresh Prepared Meal Delivery.

The food is "chef prepared" fresh (not frozen like Jenny Craig or shelf-stable like NutriSystem) and sent to you FedEx 2nd Day. If for any reason, your food isn't fresh when you get it, they have a "freshness guarantee" and will replace the food for you. (However, I recommend you call them. When I emailed, they never bothered to respond.)

The program includes three meals and one snack each day fit within a calorie level to help you lose one to two pounds per week (typically around 1,200 calories a day). Currently, you get one FREE week of meals with your first eDiets' Deliciously Yours meal delivery order. (Not a bad offer!)

In my opinion, the "snacks" are a bit on the skimpy side. Call me crazy, but one string cheese stick or 15 chocolate chips, isn't really what I consider a snack. That being said, I found that when you select some of the other snack options, they are quite tasty desserts/snacks. For example, they have a very tasty double chocolate chip cookie - highly recommended. Some of their premium snacks include items like vanilla cheesecake!

eDiets Fresh Prepared Meal Delivery has a few options to tailor your diet plan to your needs. One thing I really like is they have a 5 day plan so your weekends are free for eating with family or friends. The 5-day diet plan (15 meals and snacks) costs $99 per week. Their full week diet plan (28 meals and snacks) costs about $15.95 per day.

In all honesty, I didn't think the more expensive "upgrade" meals were that much better. I would recommend starting with the basics. That way, if you have more weight to lose, you can swap out some of your meals to provide more variety.

Your first week of the plan is pre-planned (you can't make substitutions) but on all future weeks, you can personalize your menu. On the preferred plan your breakfasts are quick items like cereal, muffins or breakfast bars. For signature plans, you get full "sit down" breakfasts like french toast or eggs benedict.

Hunger:
2 (on a scale of 1 to 5. 1 being not hungry at all; 5 being starving)
I was a bit hungry the first week, but it's just used to getting accustomed to portion control.

Pros:
Everything is pre-packaged so it's really easy to keep on your diet.
Wide variety of foods (even more if you select their more expensive plan), you can select a pre-planned menu or chose your favorites.
No grocery shopping or meal preparation.
Free week of food!

Cons:
Meal plan may be difficult for those who need to prepare meals for their family as well.
Personally, I don't like all the "partner" up-sells you get - just make sure you care mindful of what you're signing up for.

Cost:
About $16-20 per day (including food) depending on the 5 or 7 day plan you select.
(Yes, it seems expensive, but factor in what you spend regularly. For example, $7 for eating lunch out, and at least $12 if you eat dinner out - you're already at $19.)
